How contemporary use of history can be deceptive: “Tofalos”, an expression negatively used in the contemporary Greek vocabulary for someone who is bodily large, is in fact the surname of the weightlifting champion Dimitris Tofalos, (1877-1966) who made a successful career both in Greece as in the USA.
